My personal philosophy is that 'Everyone is Creative', they just need a kick start! These Colour Series were initially printed for my close friends and whānau to have some of my art in their house, keeping it cost effective, boutique, hand-made and 'LUX'.

HOOZ Art - FRAME, GIFT, #TAG or KEEP.

In each Colouring Print Set you get:

10 x A4 Prints on Quality Paper (Sustainable source)

1 x Snazzy Folder you can also colour  and a set of Crayola Pencils for the first 20 orders of each series. (10% Recycled Paper)

You also get access to me and my experience as an artist (since I could literally hold a pencil) I want to help you to become confident with colour and creativity.

All the paper and print material is researched, all printed and assembled locally, with no endangered plants species and sustainable forest resources. This is why, once coloured these have to continue to have life, move, be shared and create more joy.

I love our Earth, Paptuanuku, Pachamama and I'm going to try my best to use less resources or re-use them as many times as possible.

WHAT MATERIALS TO USE?

My Personal favourites are these Crayola Pencils. They are cost effective, very nice to use and also have a conscious environmental approach -SEE CRAYOLA ECO PRINT

You can also use any PENS or FELT tips, the paper is GSM 210, so more like a card than paper to handle any drips or heavy ink.

BE WARY - Your pen tips matter - a ball point should be nice soft tip or a gel tip. Be wary of going over the same area too many times as you can wet the paper and then go through - NOOOOOOO....

HOW TO CREATE A 3D EFFECT - when we were at school (I know think back) we instinctively press harder to get darker...however, this just ruins the paper and eventually rips or degrades.

TO CREATE SHADOW - Simply go over the area lightly a few times. You see it will build up colour creating a darker tone without damaging the paper.

LIGHT - Look at the shape of what you are wanting to colour. Is it flat? Does it have a curve? If you want a flat look, then use one one colour evenly all the way over. However to create SHAPE and FORM, imagine where the curve would be and keep that area as light as possible.

Nature tends to use a bright white and create highlight lines on curved objects.

EXERCISE IN LIGHT DIRECTION RECOGNITION: Really LOOK at a curved reflective object such as a ball or vase. Where does the shadow  line on the ball sit? Where does the light reflect off? Where is the light line? Try to use this in your art similarly.

DO NOT USE:

Watercolour Paint or Oil Paint - NO NO NO..no...dont do it...

COLOURS:

Go crazy...go big go bold!! Use colours together you would never think 'GO' together. If you observe nature, it is always contrasting, vary rarely do the mountains and the sky match, similarly the ocean and the horizon sky.

HOW TO USE THIS:

This is a colour wheel. Hoorah for people who make things like this. A way to start with colour selection.

EXERCISE 1:

PICK - 1 HUE from the Outside Ring

THEN PICK -  A HUE or TINT directly opposite (can be Outside or Inside Ring)

DO THIS AGAIN  - switching whenever between HUE TINT and TONE as you need a new colour...it will be pretty!

EXERCISE 2:

PICK - Any HUE

USE - The TINT, the TONE and the SHADE from that same 'piece of the pie'. This will give you a more GRADIENT look.

NOW...START!! Should you need me, please contact me VIA the CONTACT page or on Facebook, I'm happy to chat and see where you're at.
